2020 Attitude Awards Nominations are open!
We’ve got all the old awards along with some freshly updated ones.
The Attitude Awards are a nationally televised event celebrating the achievements and successes of New Zealanders living with disabilities.
The 2020 black tie gala ceremony will be held on the evening of Wednesday 2nd December at Auckland’s Cordis Hotel, to recognise people from the sector, including employers, employees & entrepreneurs, as well as, athletes, young people, and game-changers in the sector.
An hour-long television special, packed with entertainment, winners, and highlights from the night, will be broadcast on TVNZ1.
Here are the Award categories for the 2020 Attitude Awards:
Spirit of Attitude Award
We seek nominees who have had a unique journey and have risen to the challenges of their disability and applied a positive, ‘can-do’ spirit. The person will have overcome significant personal challenges to achieve their personal goals.
Attitude Sporting Endeavour Award
This award seeks to honour either a competitive athlete or a passionate community participant who's involvement in physical activity highlights the value of sport for wellbeing. The nominee will be a current participant and is someone who has risen above limitations to perform.
Attitude Community Champion Award
This is about Kiwis Helping Kiwis – someone who goes above and beyond to make a meaningful difference. We're seeking an ordinary, yet exceptional, disability champion or volunteer, someone who has enriched the lives of a person or persons with disability.
Attitude ACC Employer Award
This award recognises an employer who provides outstanding recruitment and retention opportunities for people with disabilities.
The employer is confident with the integration of workers with disabilities into the workplace and demonstrates an exemplary level of commitment, innovation and support for employees with disabilities.
Attitude Employee and Entrepreneur Award
We celebrate an employee or an entrepreneur with a disability who demonstrates diligence and commitment to the company they work for, and is a great team player. Through their efforts or initiative - facing the challenges of their physical or intellectual disability or managing mental health issues - this person has helped shape a positive workplace view of diversity. We invite nominees who may also have started their own business.
Attitude Youth Courage Award
We seek nominations for a person with a disability who is up to the age of 20, whose courage and determination will serve to remind the nation of the power of the human spirit, and the quest of young people with disabilities to lead full lives. They may be aspiring to be a future leader.
Attitude Impact Award
This is the chance to recognise a person with or without a disability whose efforts have significantly impacted the lives of people with disabilities. This person may be working for a Government agency or community organisation that significantly enhances the lives of disabled people. The nominee will have gone above and beyond in their role, organisation or work place.
Attitude Support Superstar Award
We seek nominations for support workers, carers, occupational therapists, physios, nurses and family members who provide critical support to a person / persons with disability. The person may also have gone above and beyond when performing their role as an essential worker during the restrictions and challengers of COVID-19. This person will have an X-factor.
